About the Southern Cross Gliding Club
One of the largest and oldest gliding clubs in Australia, and the closest to Sydney.
Located at Camden Airport in the beautiful Macarthur region, Southern Cross Gliding Club has been flying since the 1940s. We are a volunteer-run, not-for-profit club and a proud member of Gliding Australia (GAus).
We offer air experience flights for visitors, comprehensive training programs for student pilots, and an extensive fleet of gliders for experienced members. Our community of passionate pilots is what makes SCGC special.
What sets us apart
Sydney's closest gliding club
Southern Cross Gliding Club operates from Camden Airport — about 45 minutes from the Sydney CBD, and closer to the metropolitan area than any other gliding club in NSW.
Train in a controlled airport environment
Camden is a controlled Class D aerodrome with an active tower. Students train alongside powered aircraft and learn real radio procedures — a rare advantage for anyone considering a career in aviation.
Our Vision
“To be the centre of gliding excellence in NSW — enjoyable, inclusive, affordable, and safe.”
Our Mission
“To help our members achieve their gliding goals safely and efficiently, while having fun.”
